Frank Pengress Obituary

HERRIN - Frank E. Pengress, 83, of Herrin, formerly of Anna, passed away, Friday Oct. 3, 2025, at Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin.

He was born Feb. 17, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of George and Martha Lucille (Chamness) Pengress.

Frank is survived by his two brothers, Richard and wife Tanya Pengress, Robin and wife Kathy Pengress; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; many other extended family and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Della McMahan-Shepard; brother-in-law, Robert E. "Sarge" McMahan; and nephew, Jonathan Wade Pengress.

Frank was a graduate of AJCHS. After earning his bachelor's degree from Cardinal Glennon College in St. Louis, Mo, he taught English while completing his master's in educational psychology from SIU. Following his post-graduate work and internship, he worked the remainder of his career as a school psychologist with JAMP special education service.

Frank was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional fraternity for educators. Additionally, he was a member of the SIU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, a scholastic honor society.

Funeral mass and interment will be held privately for his family.

In lieu of flowers, Frank requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
