Janet Rash Obituary
Janet was a graduate of Herrin High School. She was a longtime hairdresser who worked from her home while raising four daughters. She was a loving, compassionate and forgiving. To all who knew her she was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Janet was a member of Southern Illinois Worship Center in Herrin. Her faith in God through all of life's circumstances was the cornerstone of her life, and an invaluable legacy to her family. She was gifted with a beautiful voice, and loved to minister through song wherever God opened the doors for her.
Janet was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Herrin, to William Wayne and Geraldine Bernice "Geri" Peffer.
Janet was united in marriage with Michael Rash on Dec. 27, 2008, in Herrin.
Surviving are her husband, Mike Rash of Carterville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lisa and Mark Miles of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Hope (Crider) and Brian Dowdy of Herrin, Jessica Crider of Herrin, Ashley and Shawn Byrley of Herrin; 19 grandchildren, Cody Cheatham, Kenny (Maria) Cheatham, Andrew Cheatham, Lauren Cheatham, Mallory Crider, Breanna Merone, Jeremy Merone, Eowyn Thompson, Hayden Byrley, Zander Byrley, Arianna Byrley, Kryder Byrley, Stephanie (Derek) Finney, Jesse Crider, Alex Miles, Andy Miles, Sarah Rash, Kaylee Rash and Aubrey Rash; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Cheatham and Abigail Cheatham; three stepsons and daugh-ters-in-law, Scott and Susan Rash of Herrin, Ryan and Addie Rash of Herrin, and Kevin and Dawn Crider of Washington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Garry and Sandra Peffer Sr. of Branson, Mo., and the Rev. Bruce A. and Pamela Peffer of West Frankfort, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a former husband, Glenn E. Crider.
Janet's family would like to acknowledge and offer their sincerest thanks to Dr. Pramote of Herrin, Janet's long-time personal physician, and his staff for their care and compassion throughout her illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Revs. Jason McKinnies and Don Colson officiating. Entombment will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Energy. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

A very special lady with so much love, and a giving heart. She will be so missed! When I first got out of nail school she let me set up in her home salon. She was so good to me, I saw the love she had for her family, friends and clients. Such a wonderful example of Gods love. In church she would hug and you could just feel the love. Heaven has gained a precious gift. Happy Graduation day sweet lady.
