Naomi Emery Obituary
Naomi was born in Herrin on Oct. 2, 1923, the daughter of David and Rose (Ridings) Graham. She married Harvey C. Emery in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 20, 1940. They shared 50 years of marriage, until his passing March 3, 1991.
Naomi will be sadly missed by all of her family, including her son, Harvey G. Emery and wife, Karen, of Herrin; her daughter, LaVonna K. Johnson and husband, Jim, of Carterville; five grandchildren, Mark Emery of Herrin, Leia Castoldi of Energy, Michelle Castoldi of Marion, Christopher Emery of Valier and Lisa Wirtes and husband, "Jake," of Marion; and seven great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen, Cory Alan, Christopher Michel, Morgan Brooke, Devon Patrick, Madison Mae and Elijah Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; her son, Larry; three brothers, Havis, Kenneth and Raymond; and two sisters, Ruth and Juanita.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Naomi's grandson, Christopher Emery, officiating services. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, 201 S. 13th Street, Herrin, IL 62948.

Von and family, Becky called tonight with your sad news. Aunt Omi was always my favorite aunt - she was full of life and so much fun to be around. I will always remember the wonderful summer I spent in Herrin as a child. I'm sorry I cannot be with you at the moment but will be thinking of you. Much love, Anne

To LaVonna, Michelle, Leia and the rest of the Emery Family... my heart goes out to you. Naomi was a strong woman and lived her life her way. It is my hope that the strength of your family's values along with the many memories will help you through this most difficult time. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
