Richard Phillips Obituary

GRANITE CITY -- Richard E. Phillips, 65, formerly of Edwardsville, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, in Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.

He was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Carbondale, a son of Mussette (Harris) Roberts of Chester, and the late William Richard Phillips. Rich owned and operated P.K.'s Restaurant in Edwardsville for 39 years. He married Donna Stock on Aug. 16, 2002, at SIUE Religious Center.

Rich is also survived by a son, Corey Phillips of Edwardsville; three daughters, Heather Phillips-Haberkorn and husband, Tony, of Cleveland, Trisha Aldridge and husband, Doug, of Naples, Fla., and Laura Ann Phillips of Naples, Fla.; three grandchildren; one stepson, Terry Stock of Alton; two brothers, Michael Phillips and wife, Lucy, of Chester and Bobby Roberts of Chester; three sisters, Katie Brown of Harrisburg, Reta Mott and husband, Dennis, of Chester and Donna Martin and husband, Pat, of Chester.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Robbin Phillips and Rebecca Roberts.

Rich was a member of Metro Community Church in Edwardsville and of Edwardsville Gun Club. Rich has been a pilot for the last 20 years and for a while was a stunt pilot. He was also an avid Harley rider and loved spending time in the kitchen cooking.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville with Pastor Gary Steffaniak officiating. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery in Fort Russell Township. Visitation was Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the funeral home.
