Beverly Covington Obituary

Beverly Moody Covington

Pine Valley

Beverly Moody Covington, age 84, passed away November 3, 2013, at her home in Pine Valley, Utah. She was born October 7, 1929, in Cedar City, Utah. With the help of Dr. Wilford Reichman, she was placed in the arms of Milton E. and Hazel Olsen Moody. She married Robert Prince Covington on September 8, 1948 in the St. George LDS Temple. They lived in St. George until moving to Pine Valley, Utah in 1995.

Beverly loved music and began playing the piano for Primary at age 7, and continued playing the piano and organ for the LDS church for the next 60 years. She enjoyed raising a family, dancing, golf, making and collecting porcelain dolls, cooking, sewing, and treasured her life-long friends. Growing up she worked as a life guard at the city pool and enjoyed spending summers with her family in Pine Valley. After her father passed away, her mother married Erastus Gardner whose family has been such an important part in her life and her connection to Pine Valley. Beverly took every opportunity to learn and perfect a skill. She took her love for cooking and sewing and graduated Dixie Jr. College with a degree in Homemaking. Together with her husband, Bob and Beverly owned and operated Covey's Laundry where she worked until accepting a position as a Secretary at Dixie Middle School. As Mrs."C", she enjoyed being a Secretary and her association with the young kids. She later turned a hobby and love of dolls into a business and became a part-owner and teacher at Dixie Doll Shoppe. She was a very talented doll maker who had a love for the details, and shared her skill and talent with so many.

In her late 50's, Beverly had the opportunity of being united with her biological mother, Eleen Connell White and her sisters, Lorna Chang and Marie Chamberlain. She was fortunate to be blessed with two amazing families in her life.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob; daughters: Linda (Mike) of Bloomington, Teresa, Bevelyn, and Bobbi of Salt Lake City; her two sisters: Lorna Chang (David) of California and Marie Chamberlain (Tad)of Reno NV; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Robert Covington; and brother, Olsen Moody.

Our family thanks all the health care professionals that took care of our Mom. A special thanks to Southern Utah Health Care and Hospice for their compassionate service. We also want to thank all the wonderful people in Pine Valley that cared for and shared friendship with Mom.

Bob and family, Beverly is such a wonderful, loving, kind lady. The world has lost a great example of a True Angel. I was one of those fortunate to benifit from her talent with dolls. I cherish the time she took teaching me those skills. May you all find peace and comfort in knowing she is now in the loving arms of Our Savior. My prayers and thoughts are with you now at this time.

I was saddened to read of the passing of your mother. I really liked her. She was a very cool lady! She was amazing. She never looked or acted 'old'.

Dear Covingtons: I was so sorry to read about the passing of your Mom. I think often of being your neighbors and flipping sheets and folding towels at the motel laundry. It was great growing up next to such a fun family. Your Mom was always so kind and always had a smile on her face. I hope you feel the Lord's comfort and peace at this time. Love, Susan Snow Garduno
