James ROBERTSON Obituary

ROBERTSON, James 1931 - 2014 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the death of James (Jim) Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Geri) of 59 years and his sons, Jamie (Lorraine), Geordie (Pam), Torrie and Martie; Jim's four grandchildren, Cody, Hayley, Ashley and Matthew. Jim was a member of the Victoria Fire Department for 34 years, retiring in 1991 as Assistant Chief. Jim was supportive and enjoyed watching his boys in all their sports activities. After retiring Jim enjoyed his weekly coffee meetings with his many friends. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Joe and Saanich Health Nurse, Kelly Fern and Caroline at Royal Jubilee Hospital, 8th floor. At Jim's request there will be no service but donations may be made to Victoria Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation in Jim's memory.

Geri and family, so sorry to hear of Jim's passing! Our sincerest condolences! I can remember Jim, standing in the corner stands of Victoria Memorial Arena exhuberently cheering on the Victoria Cougars Hockey Team when we played against them many years ago! Jim had a heart as big as the world and the character to match. Not to mention the many neighborhood gatherings on Ocean View Road where Jim & Geri were such great hosts! A proud man indeed! Dedicated husband, dad, grampa, fireman, and friend. A great friend over the years! He will be missed!

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
