Thinking of Paul and his family 1 year later. My relationship with Paul and the Winder family in his younger years, so many great memories. One time Paul, Harlon and dad Dan were cutting trails in Zion. His sister Dannie and I were included in ride. When my horse was losing his footing on narrow trail, Paul was so calm and talked me and the horse out of a scary situation, Thank you Paul!

So sorry to learn of Pauls passing. I stayed many summers with Dan and Myrtle Winder and always felt like a adopted sister to the Winder kids. Many great memories. Would love to hear from any of the remaining family (Tommy, Delores etc) Special thoughts sent to Dorothy and their family.

Mr. Winder was my 3rd grade teacher at Hurricane Elementary in 1962-63
school year which was his first year of teaching. He was an amazing teacher and one of my favorite teachers of all time. I remember struggling to learn multiplication and the times tables, but he patiently
worked with me until I learned it. He was a great story teller and we used to love listening to him tell wonderful stories about Southern Utah and other things. Of course, the favorite thing for me was the singing. He would get his guitar out and teach us many wonderful folk songs. I can still sing the 'Happy Wanderer' and 'The Streets of Loredo'. He loved Marty Robbins. He also taught me how to always put my chair under my desk when I got up to leave. He would make us take our chair out in the hallway for a few minutes if we forgot to push it under the desk and we would have to stand behind our desk. He seemed larger than life to us little 3rd graders. I still remember those big brown eyes that used to shine when his students would learn something new. What a wonderful teacher and man. Thanks Mr. Winder.

Dear Winder family, my love and prayers go out to all of you at this difficult time. It is so wonderful to know that this parting is just temporary and you will all be together again. May the Lord strengthen you and give you peace until you meet again. With love.

Dorothy and family, I am sorry to heart of Paul's passing. My younger brother, Larry, who lived with Harlan and Loretta for several years and continues to live in Hurricane called me this afternoon to pass on the message of Paul's passing. We grew up in Springdale with Paul and his family and often lived just a a couple homes away. Although Paul was several years older, I always appreciated his friendship and family interactions. We moved from Springdale to the Price and Wellington area (Utah) in 1965 and have had only intermittent contact with various family members over the year. My wife and I have lived in Snowflake, Arizona since August 1976 and come through Hurricane periodically and often do not see anyone except my 3 brothers who still live in the area (Larry, Ed in Bloomington, and Elmer in LaVerkin).
I greatly appreciate our Winder family heritage and many memories from our early years living close to these family members. We loved reading his Obituary and learning Dorothy of the many things that Paul & Dorothy have accomplished in their 60 plus years together. We would love to make the trip to services this weekend but will be unable to do so due to ongoing health issues. We hope to make contact through the Virtual link that Larry agreed to send me.
Our love and appreciation to each of you and other extended family members.

Uncle Paul was a straight shooter and firm in his beliefs. At the same time he was funny and could laugh at things. I enjoyed hearing him play the guitar and sing.

Paul, President Winder, was an amazing man. I worked with him at Gragson Elementary School and we were also in the same stake for many years. As an adult girls camp leader I also worked with him when we would go up to girls camp. Over the years I enjoyed visits with him and would run into him at the Temple and have short visits. I was very sorry to hear about his passing and know that he will be missed. He and Dorothy were such a wonderful couple...and will be eternally. Many memories of them. May you all know the love I have for you all. You are in my heart, thoughts, and prayers.

Uncle Paul has been a great example to me throughout my life. Whenever I went to visit him and his family he made me so welcome and always felt like he cared and loved me. He will be missed a great deal but he left a wonderful legacy behind for us to follow.
