Thayne and Jo we met in Mar Vista Ca. and they became life long friends. We they left to return to Kanab we stayed in touch and never missed a chance to visit when we were in the area. Both were perfect example of the Savior in their lives. Thank you so much for this experience of sharing life with them. Jay & Alice Hardy

Many good time shared with Thayne and Jo as we served in the Mar Vista Ward together and time spent at their home in Kanab, Utah. Always there to help lift and serve. Until we meet again.

With the passing of our friend, Thayne Smith, we have lost a true legend of Kanab, as well as Henrieville and Tropic. He taught us so much genealogy and history of the pioneer families of Southern Utah. He was absolutely tireless in his service to many organizations. He invited Bruce and I to join the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and from there we became fast friends. We traveled, went to dinners, and enjoyed being with Thayne and Jo. We will miss him so much. May the Lord bless and comfort you, Jo, Michele, TyeTye, and Eric. We will never forget Thayne.

An"Uncle By Choice", Thayne figured prominently in some of my happiest childhood memories. Thanksgiving dinners and picnics were enlivened by his humor, intelligence and perspective. In addition, he had the coolest mustache of anyone I've known:) He has been such a wonderful friend for my parents, and his relationship with Jo is a remarkable testament to true love and commitment. Enjoy this new adventure! We'll miss you....

Thanks for being my favorite uncle and always making me feel important and worth the time. I will never forget our California trips and fun I always had staying with you and Jo as well as my best friend Eric. Although I will not be able to travel to say goodbye my heart weeps and my spirit prays for you and the family.
