Mattie Settles Obituary

Mattie Joyce Cheatham Settles, age 73, of Mackville, KY passed away at 7:54 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville.

A native of Washington County, she was born on May 30, 1949 to the late Silas B. "S.B." and Margaret Joyce Morris Cheatham.

She was of the Christian faith and was a retired employee of the Louisville Bedding Company. Following retirement Joyce worked in the deli for Parkview IGA.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Wilmer Edward "Sonkie" Settles on June 12, 2022; a brother, Eugene Cheatham and two sisters, Linda Ferrell and Betty Jean Settles.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Ann Settles; a son, David Wayne Settles both of Mt. Washington; a granddaughter, Aubrey Jo Settles of Louisville; a great grandson, Carter James; three sisters, Sheila Sanford (Steve), Lisa Cheatham (Roy) and Cynthia Cheatham all of Louisville and four brothers, Glenn Cheatham (Cindy), Gary Cheatham (Kathy), Clyde Junior Cheatham (Kristi) all of Louisville and Timmy Cheatham (Amanda) of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 2nd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Reynolds, officiating.

Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as pallbearers were Gary Cheatham, Glenn Cheatham, Timmy Cheatham, Clyde Junior Cheatham, Allen Lanham and David Settles.

Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
