Jake Adams Obituary

Jake Adams

Muncie - October 9, 1992 -- January 17, 2019

Jake Adams was one of a kind.

Those who loved Jake remember him as artistic, witty and rebellious, and as a dad who deeply loved his little "Lillypad," the center of his universe.

He loved his daughter Lilly more than anything. Coming in a distant second was the pride he had for his strong hair game. He really loved those long, thick locks.

The son of Alison Crow Holding (John), Eaton, and Hank Adams (Geri), Ormond Beach, Florida; Jake was born on an Army base in Wurzburg, Germany, on October 9, 1992. He moved to Indiana at age two with a mullet and rat tail (his hair game started young).

Growing up, his hair went from unfortunate bowl cuts to platinum blonde spikes. He changed his hair more than most kids traded Pokemon cards. "Stay weird" was one of Jake's favorite sayings. He loved being a little weird and a little different from others. In high school, he began cutting and dying his own hair as well as friends' hair and doing body piercings for them. His mom never knew who or WHAT she would come home to find Jake piercing.

In addition to English, Jake was fluent in sarcasm. He was also known for his wicked, dry sense of humor. A talented artist, Jake had worked as a tattoo apprentice in Florida. Recently he had been devoting more time to developing his art, displaying at local establishments in Muncie…and growing his hair long.

He treasured time spent with Lilly - drawing, dancing, building fort castles and exploring nature. Jake was a huge fan of music - all kinds - and had a passion for supporting struggling local artists.

His eclectic life was cut short when he passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2019.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his precious daughter, Lilly Adams, (mother, Riley Dickerson); a sister, Amanda Adams (Vernon Hozey), Kokomo; grandparents: Janice Crow, Muncie, Cheryl Barnes Nixon, Warsaw, and Charlie Adams (Terri), Gaston; stepbrothers: Austin Holding and Alex Holding, both of Royerton and Rickey Adams, Florida; stepsisters: Brittany Raia, Amanda Merry and Taylor Westfall, all of Florida; aunts and uncles: Lisa Goodpaster (Mark Wolfe) and Angie Rapp, all of Muncie, Kathy Boros (Bob), South Bend, Karon Molenda (Lance), Chesterton, Angie Winter, Warsaw and, Dave Adams, Ligonier; cousins: LeAndra Goodpaster (Cory Macbeth) and Jensen Goodpaster, Tanner, Maggie and Hannah Rapp, all of Muncie, Daulton Goodpaster, Greenwood, Jared Molenda and Braelyn Molenda (Coty Ensign), all of Chesterton, Kym Bango (Jason) and Kelly Wisniewski (Jason), all of South Bend, Chase Gibson and Abby Gibson, both of Warsaw; niece, Rylee Reynolds and nephew, Connor Sanders, both of Kokomo; and a large, extended family and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Sora, who Jake called the best brother he ever had, and his grandfathers: Jerry Crow and Pete Nixon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, with a Celebration of Jake's Life Service immediately starting at 1:00 p.m., also at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. To the family and friends, my heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring. And may your precious memories of your dear loved one fill your heart with love and comfort today, tomorrow and always.
