John A. Hampton, 73

Muncie - John A. Hampton, 73, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at I. U. Health Methodist Hospital.

He was born in Sandersville, Georgia on April 26, 1944, the son of John and Mattie Julia (Hooks) Hampton and graduated from Tri High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

He has lived in Muncie for the past thirty years and worked as a truck driver for the past forty years. He worked for Allied Van Lines for thirty-seven years, along with All-Star Moving and Storage and Hardees Moving and Storage.John enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Community and was always volunteering at church.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-five years, Kimberly K. (Jones) Hampton; his children, Angela Hampton , Terrance Hampton both of Atlanta, Georgia, John Hampton Jr. (wife, Angela), Steven Hampton, Stacey Hampton, Lateeshia Toomer, James Toomer, and Dejiuan Toomer; several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Otis, Curtis, Lee, and Mitchel Hampton; sisters, Annie Ruth Moody, Lois Cherry, Mattie Pearl Rucker, Inez Howard, and Ruthie Jenkins; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie James and Richard Hampton; sisters, Dorothy Preston and Grace Hampton; and his parents.

A home going for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Community, 1210 South Hackley Street, Muncie, Indiana 47302.
