M. Hollingsworth Obituary

M. Jean (Tanner) Hollingsworth, 93

Winchester - M. Jean (Tanner) Hollingsworth, 93, passed away at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center, in Winchester, on Saturday, September 26, 2015.

She was born on June 30, 1922 to Raymond and Mary Kane Tanner.

Jean was a member of the Main Street Christian Church for seventy-five years, where she received a Deaconess Emeritus; she also rededicated her life to Christ at the age of eighty-five. Jean worked at Westinghouse for twenty years and worked at the Randolph County Hospital for fifteen years. Many may remember Jean from 4H as a leader of the Randolph County 4H Club for twenty-seven years, where she touched the lives of many children helping them train their dogs. Jean was an avid reader and loved to quilt making her last hand stitch quilt at the age of ninety-two. She enjoyed her sports, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana University Hoosiers.

Jean is survived by her four children, Garry Hollingsworth of Wolcott, Mark (wife Debbie) Hollingsworth of Winchester, Gayle (husband Steve) Fahl of Lynn and Mary Hollingsworth of Farmland; seven grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Hollingsworth, Mindy Hollingsworth, Todd Hollingsworth, Matt (Amy) Hollingsworth, Angela (Mike) Burk, Kyle Fahl and Laura Bennett; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, John (wife, Judi) Tanner; two sisters-in-law, Jean Tanner of California and Rose Tanner of Muncie; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Betty Locke, all of which she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray Tanner Jr. and George Tanner; sisters, Dorothy Tanner, Marjorie Welbourn and Marilyn Drummond; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Hollingsworth.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Mike Burk officiating. Burial will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 and one hour prior to services on Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Main Street Christian Church, 220 S. Main St, Winchester, Indiana 47394.

October 8, 2015

Dear Hollingsworth Family, I, Doris (Goodhew) Whiteman, would like to express my condolences on the recent passing of your mother.
My parents obituary, for Charles and Virginia Goodhew, was printed the same day, 9/27/15, that your mother's passing was announced.
How ironic this was, as our parents were BEST friends for many years. Your parents stood up with my parents on their wedding day, 9/1/1945.
We even lived across the street from each other on Maple St. when I was a small child. My parents spoke dearly of "Jean and Al" for many, many years.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.
