Roger Marsh Obituary

Roger F. Marsh

Johnson City - Roger F. Marsh passed away in Johnson City, Tennessee on January 7, 2018. He was 90.

A Muncie native, Roger was the son of Charles and Frances Marsh, and brother of Loren Marsh. Roger graduated from Muncie Burris High School at age 16 and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue. He worked in the family business, Superior Laundry, for many years, subsequently opening several laundromats. He was also an inventor with a number of patents, and a real estate developer.

Roger was an avid reader, a hard worker, and a staunch patriot. He believed deeply in the free enterprise system, and was involved in politics and public service. He served as Executive Director of the Indiana State Highway Department under Gov. Bowen, and was proud of improvements in highway safety. Roger was a Sagamore of the Wabash, Rotary Club member, and co-founder of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Muncie.

Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia, and their children: Valerie Luzadder (husband, Patrick), Charleston, SC; Terry Marsh (wife, Tacy), Mooreland, IN; Julie Seiniger (husband, Breck), Boise, ID; Andrew Marsh (wife, Beth) Greenfield, IN; and John Marsh (wife, Jennifer), Muncie. Survivors also include 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to his granddaughter Marie Tutterow (husband, Scott), Johnson City, Tennessee for her care of him in the final years.

Hi, I was Mr. Marsh's New Director when he ran in the Republican primary for Congress in 1976. I also worked at the Indiana State Highway Commission and knew him as a kind, soft-spoken person.

While going through some things in our attic today, I found a thank you note he sent me after the primary, so I googled him and found this obituary.

Although I only knew him briefly, he was a wonderful person.

Roger Marsh was my uncle, my Father's brother. Uncle Roger was six years younger than my Father, Loren, who passed in May, 2007 at the age of 85. They both loved each other, but battled some too. I remember Uncle Roger also getting to the cookie jar at my Grandmother's (his Mother) before I did. The jar would be empty and I'd also ask Grandma whether Uncle Roger had stopped by recently.

The Grandparents, the Loren Marsh family (4 children: Keith, Doug, Charlene, Margaret) and the Roger Marsh family (5 children: Valerie, Terry, Julie, Andy, and John) got together for 25 years for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. It was great fun and very meaningful.

I'll miss Uncle Roger.

Love, his nephew,
Keith
