Sharon Renee (Klein) Shafer, 48

Losantville - Sharon Renee (Klein) Shaffer, 48, of Losantville, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, July 31, 2017, at The Woodlands in Muncie following complications from cardiac arrest.

She was born in 1968 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of John and Jeanette (McNown) Klein.

Sharon was a 1987 graduate of DeKalb High School and earned her Master's degree in Special Education from Ball State University.   Sharon met her husband Phil, while attending Ball State and they were married in October 1994. 

She was a pre-school special needs teacher at Western Wayne Elementary School in Cambridge City.  Sharon was a member of Glad Tidings Church.  She enjoyed reading, photography, running, hiking, and spending time outdoors.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Phil Shaffer of Losantville; daughter, Emily Shaffer of Losantville; parents, John and Jeanette Klein of Auburn; sister, Deborah Peart and brother-in-law, Brad Peart of West Lafayette.

Sharon was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Viola and Thomas McNown; paternal grandparents, Rose and George Klein; aunt, Glenda Barkalow and uncle, Don Gelter.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, 2400 S. Memorial Dr. New Castle, IN, with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating.  Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cope Environmental Center, Centerville, Indiana with envelopes available at the funeral home.
