She was predeceased by her parents and her son, Dale Allen Shiver, of Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Lide is survived by her loving husband, of six years, Mr. Theodore Lide Jr., of the home; her three sons and their families, Claude B. Shiver, Jr. (Marsha El-Khouri), and their two sons, Michael Joseph and Thomas Isaac, David N. Shiver, and his two children, Joshua Ryan (Rebekah) and Kayla Nichole; and Jefferey W. Shiver (Pamela David) and their daughter, Brooke Styles; two step daughters Rebecca Fowler of East providence Rhode Island and Catherine Yamasaki (Curtis) of Long Beach, Cal.: sister, Adrienne A. Raborn (Dr. Charles Raborn), of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Shepard S. Averitt IV (Summer Edgar) of Huntersville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
She was an avid artist and genealogist. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed telling of her experiences as a Baptist ministers daughter and the genealogy of her ancestors who were colonial settlers in NC and FL. Athalia spent time in the NC Mountains and used her artistic skills to paint many scenes around the western part of the state.
A lady of many talents and experiences, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19th in the Camp United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Richard Vaughn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20th in the Sumter Cemetery, Sumter, SC. by the Rev. T. Reginald Thackston. Casketbearers will be the members of the family.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice-Brunswick House, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

I am sorry to her Aunt Tina has passed. She was a beautiful lady and I am glad to have had her in my life for the breif time I got to spend with her. I miss each of you and I will always remember you all. I miss our family very much and I hold each of you close to my heart and love you all always. I am truly sad for the loss of your Mother she was a special lady. I will keep you all in my prayers.
