Barbara Gantt

Barbara Gantt WEST COLUMBIA - Mrs. Gantt passed away peacefully after an extended battle with cancer. Born in Aiken County, she was the daughter of the late Bonam Ergle and Ola Watson Ergle. She was a lifelong area resident. She attended B and L High School and later through adult education graduated from Airport High School. She was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church for over 45 years. Mrs. Gantt had various jobs in her life, but loved working for H&R Block where she worked in Taxes for over 20 years. She was a giver of love and material things. She loved the lake, fishing and camping and vacation road trips. She was a loving wife and mother, and she will truly be missed by all she has come to know. Special thanks go out to her best friend of 50 years, Mrs. Dorothy Cathey, for all she has done over the years. Surviving in addition to her husband, Jimmie Israel Gantt of West Columbia; are her two sons, Jimmie Carroll Gantt of Lexington, and Jerry Allan Gantt of West Columbia; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Providence Hospital and their staff and Hospice Care that she needed for all their care and support they gave. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Woodridge Funeral Home in Lexington from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at West Side Baptist Church in West Columbia on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery in Monetta.
