David started his professional career in city of Newport News, VA in the Purchasing Department. From there, he went to the Sheriff's Department, where we worked as a Courtroom Deputy Sheriff. In 1987, he moved to the Juvenile Detention Center. David was present at every ECSU Homecoming and CIAA tournament cheering on the Vikings.
David had a strong faith in God and called Antioch A.M.E. Zion Church in Eastover, SC home from his move to South Carolina until his passing. He was known for his uncanny ability to network and connect with others especially as it relates to the uplifting and wellbeing of young adults and people with hidden talents. David was also a family man who mentored and supported younger family members as well as kids of coworkers and friends to further their education. He was a resourceful person who never met a stranger. My deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. Strick is a great man, mentor and friend. A brother that one may not remember meeting, but after meeting him, one will never forget or lessons learned from. A Blessings to have known him and to know him, when I moved on from the detention center, he kept in touch. And I moved to Geogia. The world will miss him and all that know him will better for it. We love you man, family we stand with you during you time of grief.
