Dennis Norton Jr.

Dennis F. Norton, Jr. ELGIN Dennis F. Norton, Jr., 80, of Elgin, died Friday, July 20, 2018. Born October 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Dennis F. Norton, Sr. and Anne Vollmer Norton. Mr. Norton was an electrician and worked until he was 75. He always had a love for trains and amassed quite a collection as his hobby. He always loved his dogs as part of his family and cared for them as equals. Mr. Norton was a loving son, uncle and great-uncle. Survivors include his nieces, Shirley Kennedy (Billy) and Susan Mattox (Perry); nephew, Isaac "Randy" Shelley Jr. (Sharon); great-nieces, Shelley Laughter, Kathleen Mattox and Nina Shelley; great-nephew, Tristan Shelley; and a great-great-nephew, Preston Laughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret A. Shelley. The funeral service for Mr. Norton will be held 1 o'clock, Tuesday, July 24th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Fr. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin. The family will receive friends prior the service beginning at 12:30 o'clock.
