My father, Donald H. Turner, was a high school friend of Don Fowler in Spartanburg, SC. Over the years, they kept in touch. My dad respected and really looked up to Don Fowler. I'm so sorry to learn of Don Fowler's passing, and his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

We shall miss Don in our City, State and Nation. He was a dedicated pubic servant in many capacities his entire life. I first met Don when he assisted my grammar school basketball, Coach Joe Mooneyham at West End Elementary School while a student athlete at Wofford College. He made a lasting impression on me then, as a young man and we have been friends for life.
Don was the type of person who was your friend when you were on the top of the mountain, but more important, he was with you when you were in the "valley of of shadows"! If he was your friend you could always count on him! Our prayers are with Carol and the entire Fowler family. Rest in peace my friend.
We shall miss him but never forget him with heart felt love and gratitude for his life and contributions.

We have lost a fine gentleman and statesman. I am happy to count him as one of my friends. I hope all the wonderful memories of Don will be a comfort to his family ,as they are to me.

What a wonderful professor at Carolina back in the early 80’s! I learned so much from him and greatly admired him over the years. This is a huge loss to our state. My sympathy to his family & friends.

Dr. Fowler was a wonderful man and professor. He not only shared his almost encyclopaedic knowledge of US politics with his students, but taught us to respect one another regardless of politics. He was both a gentleman and a scholar which is sadly a combination lacking in the world of politics. He will be missed and your family is in my prayers.
