Doris H. Payne WEST COLUMBIA A funeral service for Doris H. Payne, 88, of West Columbia, will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC, 29033. Reverend Joseph Crump, Reverend Nathan Brown, and Reverend Charles Wilson will officiate. Interment will be at 4:00 PM at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Payne passed peacefully, and went to be with her Savior Sunday, February 8, 2015. Born in St. Matthews, Doris was the daughter of the late John Dalton and Iva Lucille Hammond Hair. She was a long time member of State Street Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. Doris had retired from the SC Highway Department Title Section after more than 30 years of faithful service. She is survived by her son, Carl W. Payne, III (Cheryl) of West Columbia; two granddaughters, Caryl Bray (Joey) of Fort Mill, Christie Young (William) of West Columbia; four great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her parents; loving husband of 61 years, Carl W. Payne, Jr., and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church.
