Columbia, South Carolina - Dorothy Campbell Foster, 99, Died Thursday, October 29th. Dorothy was born on November 29th, 1921 in Mooresville, NC to the late Sallie Clark and John Isaiah Campbell. She was the wife of the late James Peter Foster. Dorothy graduated from High Point High School where she played various sports and was captain of her basketball team. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cheraw. She spent many years as a manager of various retail stores. She enjoyed trips to the beach, singing with her gospel choir, and she loved to travel. Her kind, gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons, Jerry F. Foster of Knoxville, TN and Ruskin C. Foster of Columbia; grandchildren, Kimberly Holbert (Chuck), Tiffany Foster (Matthew), Shelley Watford (Steven), Jason Foster (Donna), J. Rusty Foster (Kelli), Jamie Hoey, Jackie Foster, and Ruskin and George Foster.
She was predeceased by two sons, J. Rick and Johnny M. Foster and a sister, Irene Rogers.
The family would like to thank all the staff at NHC Parklane for the outstanding care, love, and compassion shown to her for the past 14 years and to the caring Careis hospice staff.
A private graveside service will be held at Floral Gardens, High Point on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
