Eunice Lorene Phelps ORLANDO, Fla. - Eunice Lorene Phelps, 62, of Orlando, FL passed away at Florida Hospital South in Orlando, FL on August 23, 2015. Eunice was born in Eastover, SC, on January 28, 1953. She was one of six children of Willie Thomas Campbell and Lorene Owens Campbell. She graduated from Lower Richland High School in Columbia, SC, received her Bachelor of Science from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Life Christian University in Tampa, FL. In her younger years, she was very active in Beauty Pageants and won the titles of Ms. South Carolina USA and later, Mrs. Central Florida. She started her professional career with the Department Store, Davidson's, in Columbia, SC. She was recruited by Revlon Corporation and quickly advanced through numerous management positions before accepting the position as Sr. District Manager for Playtex Incorporated where she was responsible for over $250,000,000 in annual sales. In 1991 (at the age of 38) she married the "Love of Her Life" (as she often stated) Steve L. Phelps. Together they had two incredible children, Joshua Stephen Phelps, 22, and Eunice Loreanna Phelps, 20. Eunice spent the majority of her married life being a devoted wife and nurturing mother. She was committed to sharing her Life Long Christian Values, love of God, Family and Country into her marriage and the rearing of her children. She also became an accomplished Author, completing 3 books and was well known in the Christian and Civic Communities as a Life Coach, Lecturer, and Counselor. She served the Orange County Detention Center as a motivational Speaker, providing numerous Seminars and Events. She developed an extensive personal development seminar entitled "Beyond The Basics" for adult and teenage women. She served on the Board of Directors and was a major benefactor for "Teen Challenge" a faith-based substance abuse organization in Sanford, FL. She was extremely proud that one of the primary buildings at the Sanford, FL campus was dedicated and named after her late mother as "Lorene Campbell Hall". She was a licensed Minister, a certified instructor for Crown Financial Ministries, and was very active directing and organizing Women's Ministries for several churches throughout the Southeast. One of her major passions, as her children progressed into their teen years, was scouting. She assisted and encouraged her daughter, Loreanna, to reach the highest level of Girl Scouts as a "Gold Award" recipient and assisted and supported her son, Joshua, to reach the highest level of Boy Scouts as an "Eagle Scout". During this process, this former beauty queen who had never been camping in her life, become actively involved with the Osceola District and the Central Florida Counsel of Boy Scouts of America. She was a recipient of Commissioner's Key award, The Arrow head award, The Central Florida Council Commissioner of the year award and earned a Doctor of Commissioner Science. At the 2001 Central Florida Council Annual Recognition Banquet she received the counsel's highest award as a "Silver Beaver". Above all, she adored her husband, Steve and committed her life to being the best wife, companion and life-partner she could be. She is survived by her husband, her two children, her sister, Willie DeLorees Mock of Eastover, SC and her sister Deddie Ragsdale, of Gadsden, SC. So sorry to hear this. A true southern Lady; I remember the day I met her, I complimented her penny loafers; then learned she was a fellow South Carolinian. She will be surely missed by our Scouting family. Rest in Peace Eunice, well done.

So very sorry to learn of Eunice's passing. Our paths crossed numerous times through Commissioner Service here in Central Florida Council. She was always available to assist with Commissioner Training events and I called on her several times to do just that. It was also my pleasure to assist her in her endeavor to earn her Doctorate Degree for the College of Commissioner Science. She was able to utilize her thesis several times at Council Events sharing her knowledge and expertise. Eunice was a beautiful soul - inside and out - and it always showed. She will truly be missed.

May she be carried to the heavens in a chariot of Gold . She was one with a heart of solitude in righteous of love and peace. Although I only Knew her for a short time. her wisdom and kind words were always welcome by many. I shared comradeship as a commissioner for a very short time. But her heart and soul were for the Youth of Osceola District. May the Lord watch over her and her surviving family . Being one of many strengths in scouting ! Charles H. Bachman Jr.

Eunice was a beautiful, lively and never boring person during our LR years. The last time I saw her was at an early reunion. She shared her Christian story with me. I'm sorry she's gone at such a young age, but thankful for the life she lived. Her husband, children and sisters are in my prayers.
