Dear Wayne and Lawton's family,
I was saddened to read of Lawton's passing on Sunday. He was a good friend during our high school years, and we always enjoyed sharing stories of our youth in Barnwell during our class reunions. One such story: When we were about 15 years of age, we were 'hanging out' at your parents' home with nothing to do, so we decided that it would be fun to sail, like frisbees, the family's collection of 78 rpm records across the field near the house. Lawton told me later that he was outside after dark still trying to retrieve them. He and I both matured immensely after that.
As a "big brother", I'm sure he had a significant impact in your life. He impacted my life in our younger days, but he really became a hero in my eyes when he dedicated 30 years of his life serving our country. "Thank you, Lawton, for your service".
Wayne, may God bless you and all of his family during this sorrowful time.
