Glenn Greer Obituary

Glenn W. Greer

October 17, 2024

West Columbia, South Carolina - West Columbia-Glenn W. Greer, 75, went to his eternal resting place on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Born in Middlesborough, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Arthur Albert "Bill" and Georgia Harris Greer.

A 52 year employee of Gregory Electric Company Inc., Glenn worked his way up from an electrician at Allied Chemical to Industrial Project Manager and Vice-President. His motto was, "If they can make it, we can wire it". His many projects through the years included such industries as Michelin Tire, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Bose Stereo, Mack Truck, and Southern Wine & Spirits just to name a few. Glenn loved his Gregory Electric family and made many lifelong friends through this association.

Many will miss his, "How 'bout it?", "I'm fine as frog hair split 3 ways" and numerous other "Glennisms". Whether he was "El Capitan" navigating the waters, pulling folks behind the boat, teaching water and boat skills, or fishing he was always most content on his beloved Lake Murray. He was Uncle Gizmo who did rain and snow dances and Mr. Entertainment at Gregory Electric parties, and oyster roasts. He never met a microphone he didn't love.

Glenn was a proud veteran with six years of service in the National Guard. He was also a member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge. A lifelong USC fan, he never missed the opportunity to yell "Go Cocks!". He was a Christian, and saved by Christ, he will see us all again in Heaven.

We will miss him here on Earth, his lack of presence leaves a void but we will always remember and cherish him, his humor, wisdom, love and many memories.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Toni L. Greer; sons, Darren (Cathy), Chris, and Colby (Ashlynn) Greer; sister, Brenda Dillard (Rudy), daughter-in-love, Jayme Greer; grandchildren, Eastlynn, Gavin, Eden, and Hunter Greer, Sydney Sharpe (Matthew); great-granddaughter, Sophie Rose Sharpe; brother-in-law, Allen Pollard (Rhonda); sister-in-law Charlene Pitman (Tommy); his bonus family of Chris' siblings, Carmen Hernandez (Rudy), Raul Napoles (Ilena), Alex Napoles (Kimberly); multiple nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Which at last count was 52 with one on the way.

Glenn was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne, George, and Gary Greer; sister-in-laws, Brenda Greer, and Debbie Petty; brother-in-laws, Timothy and Lee Pollard, and a nephew, Joshua Greer.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park, in Batesburg SC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.

Serving as active pallbearers will be, Allen Pollard, Dustin Pollard, Kyle Pollard, Chad Pollard, Shane Hanna Sr., and Shane Hanna Jr.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Lexington Oncology and all staff on 9 North Lexington Medical Center for their loving care during Glenn's illness.
