Grover Jeffcoat Obituary
December 11, 1929 - December 7, 2024
Irmo, South Carolina - Grover Addison Jeffcoat Jr. joined his heavenly family on Saturday December 7th, 2024 at the age of 94, just 4 days shy of his 95th birthday. Grover's parents were Grover A Jeffcoat Sr (Pappy) and Beatrice D. Jeffcoat (Nanny). Grover grew up in Columbia, SC, graduated Dreher High School, and went to the Citadel on a football scholarship. He later opened the "Steak Mart" butcher shop on Rosewood Drive, which he ran successfully from 1961 to 1989 before retiring to Burnsville, N.C. Grover was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; his daughter, Pamela; and his sons, Grover A "Buddy" Jeffcoat, III and Stephen. He is survived by his second wife Asta Rucker Jeffcoat, who took great care of him until his death; his daughters, Dianne Thomas and Francie Bryant (Randy); his sons Robert (Cindy), Mike and Bill; and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Gail. He has 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. His other children include Taylor Rucker, Linn Dowell, Karlene Grange, and Beth Nelson.
Anyone who was blessed to have known him cannot help but smile when they think of him. He was kindhearted, sweet and always funny. He deeply loved the Lord and seemed to see everyone through God's eyes. His gentle spirit will live on forever in our hearts. Thank you, Dad for loving us all so genuinely and generously. We will miss you, but also know we will one day see you again. Save us a spot at the table! A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Community Church, 1302 Old Orangeburg Rd, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorials may be sent to Prisma Healthcare Hospice or Samaritan's Purse.

He was a wonderful man that I knew from the Steak Mart as well as Sherwood Pharmacy where I worked in 1966 where his family visited on a regular basis He was loved by all that knew him

We bought meat quite often from Mr. Jeffcoat when we lived in Columbia (Forest Acres, actually). We moved away in 1981 but have often talked of how Mr. Jeffcoat would grind certain meats to fit the dietary needs of our growing boy. We trusted him, and our trust was well placed. May this fine man rest in eternal peace.
