We were devestated today to hear about Jay's passing. Although, we know there are no words to comfort you at this time we pray that you will find comfort in Gods love. Please know that you both are in our thoughts and prayers. We so enjoyed "hanging" with you guys on the field at Mann and in Charleston on our first anniversary. Jay was a wonderful friend and he loved his girls so much. Please let us know if there is anything we can ever do for you.

Dear Lou and Sara,
I am so sorry for your lose or should I say "our" lose. Jay really loved you both and was so proud to be your husband and father. Then came his love for the Bulldogs.
Jay was a great friend and colleague. He always set the bar higher and challenged others to meet it.
Jay called me on Sunday and I will be sorry for the rest of my life that I missed that call.
One day when we all are with Jay again, we'll find him in the "Big Stadium in the Sky" He'll being coaching his team to victory, with Lou and Sara in the stands cheering him on. I'll walk up to Jay and he'll slap me on the back and say " Where have you been, Bo. I've been waiting on you."
Until then we have our memories of Jay and how he shaped our lives.
May God be with you in this time of deep sorrow and pain.

Dear Lou and Sara,
Betty called us tonight to tell us about Jay. We're thinking of you and all your family at this time of loss. Logan was at The Citadel from '81-85 and enjoyed getting to know y'all and playing with baby Sara. Our relatives are so spread out & we seldom get to Charleston anymore -- I do try to stay caught up with my side thru Teenie, Betty, or Margaret. I'll let my sisters know. God Bless all of you, and I'll write you a personal note soon.

Jay Rogers - My friend, HS / Citadel classmate thru present day – You made life 'FUN' - the captain of your boat w/ Lou / Sara as 1st mates - there was never a dull moment around you - your comical wit and devilish antics w/ that gleam in your eye gave us all a boost of hope & left us w/ a smile - you always found the positive in any situation – but most of all Jay was a man of faith - honor, truth, and high integrity - a Southern gentleman and true ‘Citadel Man’ living life to the fullest while setting a high standard for all to match - I am privileged he was a part of my life – May God Bless you as transcend on to new adventures –
Your Brother,
Danny Williams

Lou, Sarah, JD & Cat,
I was surprised when Linda told me about Jay's passing yesterday. I am in Boston for a work conference otherwise, I would surely be at the service.
I think often about growing up with Jay & Lou and seeing their love mature and going to church with them & the others in the youth group with Linda, Jerry, & me at that time at Pinecrest. Those were important days in my life. Jay always has had a twinkle in his eyes and a smile on his face. Tonight when I looked at the sky, I saw a star brightly twinkling... I think that was Jay in heaven. God bless all of you at this difficult time.

So many of us from the class of '76 were fortunate to have been classmates for 12 years. Through Orange Grove, Wallace & Middleton. Our class has continued to be close. Losing Jay is sad for all of us. Always courteous and smiling, Jay was adored by everyone. He was so in love with Lou in high school (causing lots of disappointment on the part of the Middleton girls) and so loyal to her. I had hoped to see him at a reunion, but will always remember chasing him at Orange Grove and having such respect for him in high school. My sympathies to Mr. & Mrs. Rogers on the loss of both of their children...so hard for a parent to even imagine. God bless you all during this sad time.

Jay was a good man, a Citadel Man, and a friend. I pray for his family and ask that they find comfort in this difficult time. I will remember the good times from days gone by and will remember him as the young man with his own style and sence of humor. He will be missed but he will also always be with us in our hearts.
