Mr. Millwood died Friday, January 6, 2012. Born September 4, 1942 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Ann Carter Millwood Cox and the late Luther Millwood. He served in the US Navy Seabees and helped build a special bunker for President Kennedy in 1961. Larry was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1961, a 1967 graduate of the University of South Carolina and an avid Gamecock fan. He enjoyed helping others through his volunteer work with Harvest Hope Food Bank, and was an active member of Les Truands Social Club at Columbia High School. He had an extensive background in the Insurance Industry and worked at Aetna as a Claims Adjuster and retired from Companion Property & Casualty as a Senior Marketing Representative.
Surviving are his father, Randolph S. Cox of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Marti Cox Stubbs of Elloree, SC; nephews, Terry W. Layton and his wife Kathy of St. Petersburg, FLA; A. Ryan Layton of Summerville, SC and a special friend and companion, Judy Dawson of Columbia, SC.

Very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I use to spend time at the Cox home when I visited my Grandmother. My prayers are with the family at this very difficult time. I lost my brother last spring so I know it's hard.

I am so very sad to learn of Larry's passing. What an honor it was to have known him. He was always extremely kind to myself and my family. I will certainly miss running into him at USC sporting events and in the Columbia Vista. May you gain strength and peace through your many wonderful memories of this lovely man.
