Marlene Joy Hancock Tolleson

Marlene Tolleson LUGOFF - Marlene Joy Hancock Tolleson, of Lugoff, SC, died April 8, 2013. She was 69 years old. Marlene was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Shapmire Hancock. She lived in Thornton, IL, and was a former nurse at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL. She moved with the family to Camden, SC, in June 1978. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020. Ms. Tolleson had been employed at the Kershaw Council on Aging since 1979, where she enjoyed serving and taking care of the elderly in the community. Marlene is survived by one son, Jim Tolleson and his wife, Cerelle, and daughters, Amy Steele, and Alison Munger and her husband, Ron. She was predeceased by her son, John Tolleson. The pride and joys of her life were her 13 grandchildren; Christopher Steele, Amanda Tolleson, Kyle Steele, Amber Tolleson, Savannah Steele, Davis Tolleson, Michael Munger, Jarod Tolleson, Wesley Tolleson, Brett Munger, Cole Munger, Gage Munger and Zachary Munger. She loved spending time with them, be it watching their baseball games to listening to their band performances. She was always finding that great deal while shopping, and enjoyed her yearly fall trips to the beach. She got the most enjoyment out of life from her very spoiled Ragdoll cat, Alexis Brooke.
