Odell L. Barnes, Sr. WEST COLUMBIA - Memorial Service for Odell Leroy Barnes, Sr., 86, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday February 13, 2018 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel with Rev. Kenny Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice 1900 Sunset Blvd # 103 West Columbia SC 29169. Mr. Barnes passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018. Born in Saluda County he was the son of the late Alonzo and Bessie Boatwright Barnes. He retired from Pest Control Business, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Columbia Shag Club, was in the Shag Wall of Fame, and served in the National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Margie Rikard Barnes; sons, Roy (Susan) Barnes and Steve Barnes; daughter, Gale (David) Gantt; brother, Buddy Barnes; sister, Joann Gilstrap; sister-in-law, Jo Barnes, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and a special pet Anna. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Barnes McMeekin; daughter-in-law, Novelle Barnes; brothers, Henry and Clarence; sisters, Louise, Mary Lou, Annie Mae, and Betty Carolyn; and a grandson, Steve Barnes, Jr. The family would like to give a special thank you to caregiver Anjie Washington and the Nurses of Amedisys Hospice.
