Ronald Sharpe Obituary

SWANSEA - A service celebrating the life of Ronald 'Ronnie' B. Sharpe, 60, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. Bob Hawkins of Sandy Run Lutheran Church and Cindi Boot, Hospice Chaplain. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Thomas, Jimmy Palmer, Bubba Johnson, Bryan Brazell, Jeff Sanderson, and Gayle Poppell.

Ronnie, husband of Annette Bonnette Sharpe, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 2, 1950 in Columbia, he was the son of Blanche S. Hoffman and Boyd R. Sharpe.

Ronnie was a 1968 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and attended Midlands Technical College. After working at Roberts Electric and Frito-Lay, Ronnie joined the family business in Five Points, Sharpe's Capital Furniture & Appliance, where he worked diligently for over 28 years. He loved working hard at his job and also in his yard on the Congaree River in Sandy Run. Ronnie was a championship Putt-Putt golfer and enjoyed participating in that activity for many years. He loved the Gamecocks and was an avid Nascar race fan, Ronnie was a member of the Columbia Chapter of Team SC Midlands Racers Reunion. He was an animal lover, and his arms and yard were full of his beloved pets. Ronnie was a devoted friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Brian Sharpe (Stephanie) of Columbia; Clint Sharpe of Taylors, SC; his sister Debbie Berry (Larry) of Cayce; and his wife's children, Christy Lambert, Rhonda Ciandella, Jim Cribb and Gregg Cribb.

Friends may call at the home of his mother at 323 Tickleweed Road, Swansea. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of SC, 140 Stoneridge Dr., Suite 130, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the SPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.

The passing of a special friend is such a final thing. I believe Ronnie Sharpe would have given me his last nickel if he thought I needed it and it would help me. I'm lucky to have known him. Only sorry I did not find out of his passing until now, seven years later. He was married to the most spectacular women. Annette, you caught yourself a gold nugget when you met Ronnie. I'm happy for the years you had together.

Annette, I am sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing, even though he is in a better place. I could tell he was in a lot of pain when Jim Scott and I stopped by last month. He was a fighter, wasn't he? You and he will always have a special place in my heart. You are special people that went out of your way to help two strangers.
God bless you.
