Monetta, South Carolina - Roy Andrew "Drew" Barr, Jr., 27, was born June 24, 1994 in West Columbia, SC and passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was the beloved son of Roy and Sonia Wheeler Barr.
Drew was a Public Safety Officer-K9 handler with Cayce Police Department where he worked for five years. He began working with Sandy Ridge Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 14; he previously worked for Lexington County as a certified EMT, and was an active volunteer with the Monetta Volunteer Fire Department where he served for many years. Drew loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Andrea Kelly (Matthew); nephew, Levi Kelly; niece, Izzy Kelly; aunts, Donna Boozer (Ronnie), Nancy Koonts (Evan) and uncles, Damone Wheeler (Lisa) and James Stokes (Allison).
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Batesburg-Leesville High School Fine Arts Center with interment to follow at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. prior to the service in the Fine Arts Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monetta Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 127, Monetta, SC 29105 or Cayce Public Safety Foundation – Earmark for Drew Barr, 1800 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
