Sara Stockman Obituary

WEST COLUMBIA - Sara Katrina (Watson) Stockman was called away to her heavenly home on April 6, 2012, after a long illness. Mrs. Stockman was born on August 13, 1922 in Saluda County, SC, the daughter of the late Nicholas W. Watson and Daisy Mellissa (Risinger) Watson. Sara was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters and her loving husband of 64 years, Samuel Earl Stockman, Sr.

Sara is survived by her three sons, Samuel E. Stockman, Jr. (Dianne) of Chapin, SC, Charles L. Stockman (Joyce) of Lexington, SC and Paul E. Stockman of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren, Stephen Troy Stockman (Laura), Shane Anthony Stockman (Susan), Christopher Charles Stockman (Stephanie), and Philip Justin Stockman (Jennifer); six great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Stockman, Samuel Henry Stockman, Trent Robert Stockman, Pierce William Stockman, Mya Rose Stockman and Elliott Charles Stockman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Sara was a devoted wife and homemaker and also enjoyed attending church regularly, continuing her life-long learning of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord graciously preserved her in the true faith until her deliverance on Good Friday. Sara's other hobbies included gardening and yard work, as well as regular exercise at the Cayce/West Columbia Leisure Center. She was a very dedicated mother and friend to many, always quick to lend a helping hand and a sympathetic ear to her friends or others in need.

The visitation for Sara will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Monday, April 9, 2012 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2920 Pella Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29170, with interment at Southland Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2920 Pella Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29170.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Lexington Extended Care - Crews Pointe, for their devoted and personal care throughout Sara's extended illness.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, Lest any man should boast." "But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians2:8-9; 1 Corinthians 15:57)
