Stephen Monroe Obituary

Stephen "Steve" Clark Monroe BISHOPVILLE - Stephen "Steve" Clark Monroe, 74, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at his home in Bishopville, SC. Born in Monroe, N C, he was a son of the late Roy L. Monroe and the late Mary Rummage Monroe. He was a member the Bishopville Presbyterian Church and had retired as an employee of DuPont. He was a Marine veteran and served during the Vietnam war. He loved his family, his church, the game of golf, and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. He was an avid golf player. When he was not playing golf, going to church, or pulling for the Gamecocks, he was at home on his "Couch." Survivors include a son, Stephen Clark Monroe, Jr.; two sisters, Pat Fields (William), and Margaret Hicks (Hap Hicks); two brothers, Mike Monroe and Bob Monroe (Kathy); and a special friend and soul mate, Pat Monroe of Florence, SC. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dadra Ellen Monroe. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Bishopville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home in Bishopville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishopville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 66, Bishopville, SC 29010, or the Shriners Children Hospital, 950 West Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605. Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of the arrangements.

Sure sorry to hear about Steve. He was a super nice guy. Steve and I started Maint. training together at Dupont. As greenhorns we learned made mistakes and laughed at them together. we were on our own for the first 6 months with no mechanic to help us so we made several! if I can help the family in any way, please call. 803-427-6099.

So saddened to hear of the loss of my friend and co-worker at Bishopville Country Club. Even though I nicknamed him "Dolittle" he did lots!!! He loved his family, his Gamecocks,and all of his friends at BCC. RIP my friend . Kaye Huggins Howell

So sorry about Mr. Steve. I have wonderful memories playing golf with him and Clark. He was also one of many golf partners and friends the Roundman enjoyed playing with. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Family, God Bless.
