Sybil Hudson Obituary

Sybil Browder Hudson
June 28, 1942 - April 6, 2023
Columbia, South Carolina - Sybil Browder Hudson, 80, entered into Eternal rest on Thursday, April 6th, 2023. She peacefully passed in the presence of her family in the home she built with intentionality and love for she and her husband, Jim Hudson.
Sybil was born on June 28th, 1942 to Henry and Ruth Browder. She grew up in West Columbia, SC with her brothers Fred Browder, Rick Browder, and Wade Browder, who she is survived by. Sybil attended Newberry College where she studied Interior Designing and made wonderful friends and memories. She then worked at Livingston Insurance company where she was first introduced to Mr. Jim Hudson, who quickly stole her heart with his charm and love of cars. On May 25th 1963, the two married and would later have two sons, Ken and Keith Hudson.
Sybil dedicated much of her life to being a philanthropist, a visionary and designer for the Jim Hudson Automotive Group, and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Much of her husband's success in the car business can be attributed to her endless support and sacrifice. Her life was marked by a willingness to help those in need, especially vulnerable women and children. Above all, her heart treasured her God and her family most. She will be remembered for the lasting legacy of love, gentleness, hospitality, and generosity that she imparted on those she loved.
Sybil is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim Hudson and her two sons Ken Hudson (Saundra) and Keith Hudson (Denise). She is also survived by her grandchildren Carly, Brandon, Savannah, Sarah, Sierrah, and Raynah Hudson. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth to all of her surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. During this time of mourning, her family also rejoices in the hope that Sybil gets to share in the same resurrection power that Christians get to celebrate this Easter Sunday.
The family has elected to have a private burial, which will be invitation only. Friends and family of the Hudson's are welcome to join for a Celebration of Life which will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion St, Columbia on Thursday, April 13th at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oliver Gospel Mission's Toby's Place.

James and family, I never got to meet Sybil but please know my thoughts, love and prayers are with you. All of you Hudsons will always have a special place in my heart. A lot of years have passed since we lived next door to Bobby and Stella as well as Gene and Carolyn. And Lord I was just a kid when James dropped me off at BC#3... Philip

Hugging all of the Hudsons. I always enjoyed seeing Sybil at different events.

She wore her smile every single time. She was quite the lady.

Grateful she is healed and whole and home in heaven with our Lord.
