Lugoff, South Carolina - Thomas Donald (Don) Williamson passed away on May 12, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born in Columbia, SC to the late Earl and Lillie Williamson.
Don graduated from Olympia High School and married the love of his life, Jeannette Williamson, on the night of her high school graduation. He worked his way through college as a butcher, at a grocery store near his home. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and attended Chrysler Institute of Engineering. He later served in the Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida where he worked on missile system development. He worked at DuPont in Research and Development, advanced to the highest technical level and developed numerous parts that were patented. He retired from DuPont with more than 25 years of service. He was an avid runner and won first place in many races across the state. He looked forward to the Annual Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. Don was widely recognized throughout the area for his phenomenal skill and ability to fix and repair any and everything. He never said no to any requests and loved helping family, friends and people he didn't even know. If he couldn't fix it, it couldn't be done. Don passed this legacy onto his children and family.
Surviving are his wife, Jeannette, of 70 years, his children Carol Thaxton (Tom) and Donna Emens (Jim) of Columbia, Tommy Williamson (Donna) of Aiken and Linda Hobby (Larry) of Ridgeway, grandchildren Michael, Trent, Casey, Trey, Kendall, Tyler, Karli, Tanner, Kirby and Tabitha, and 13 great grandchildren.
