William Bartus Obituary

William "Butch" J. Bartus Jr. FAIRVIEW - Services for William "Butch" J. Bartus, Jr., 70 will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Gilbert Athletic Booster Club, P.O. Box 531, Gilbert SC 29054. Mr. Bartus passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014. Born in Ft. Jackson, SC he was the son of the late William "Bill" J. and Polly Pisano Bartus, Sr. He was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School where he was a Letterman, was a member of Springdale Masonic Lodge, and former volunteer with the Fairview Fire Dept. Butch was the self-appointed "Mayor" of Fairview Crossroads, loved sports, was a car enthusiast, an avid outdoorsman, and a collector of "treasures." He retired from Michelin and had been previously employed with Owens Steel (Columbia), Dixianna Steel (West Columbia), and Piedmont Products (Columbia). Surviving are his wife, Shelby Jean Welch Bartus; son, Rocky Bartus; daughter, Deana Bartus Keisler; grandchildren, Kenny and Caroline Keisler; in-laws, Sandra Gantt, Buddy and Margaret Welch and Frank and Connie Welch.
