Francis A. Oftring III, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Frank was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend known for his compassion, humor, and love for his family.
Born in Worcester, MA, son of Frank A. and Mary (McCutcheon) Oftring, Frank grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic High School in Worcester and furthered his education at Loyola University in Maryland where he earned his Bachelor's degree, laying the foundation for his successful career.
Frank's professional life was defined by his significant contributions to the finance industry, highlighted by his tenure at several leading financial institutions. He most recently worked as a senior financial advisor at Life Solutions Group.
Beyond his professional achievements, Frank was a passionate supporter of New England sports, with a particular fondness for The College of the Holy Cross Basketball and the Boston Celtics. His love for sports extended to his community involvement, where he volunteered as a coach, sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge with young athletes at Mercymount Country Day School in Cumberland, St. John The Evangelist in Attleboro, MA and Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro, MA.
Frank's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his children, Anne Alleva and her husband Joseph, Mary Oftring, Francis Oftring, and their mother, Madonna Oftring. He was a loving grandfather to Lily Grace Alleva and a beloved brother to Mary Ellen Oftring, Ruth Ann Oftring and her husband Tom White, Robert J. Oftring and his wife Katherine, Elizabeth Tanona and her husband Joseph Tanona Jr., Monica T. Oftring, Daniel J. Oftring and his wife Susan, Stephen P. Oftring, Julie E. Koblish and her husband Antony, and Joseph M.H. Oftring and his partner Adam Schick. He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frank will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, January 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 18, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. He will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester.
