Margaret Carroll Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" (Shannon) Carroll, 81, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the loving wife of James L. Carroll, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Peggy was born on December 14, 1940, in Arlington, MA, to the late John and Margaret (Dineen) Shannon.

She was a graduate of Our Lady of Nazareth High School in Melrose, MA, and the Malden Hospital School of Nursing, now Endicott College. Peggy worked as a Registered Nurse, providing many years of compassionate care at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro and Country Haven Nursing Home in Norton. She had boundless energy and always had a big smile, kind words, and a hug for patients, family, and friends.

Peggy was the eternal optimist and always saw the best in people and in every situation. She had a vibrant personality, great sense of humor, and her smile lit up the room. Peggy lived to spend time with family and was the consummate host. Holidays and parties were always festive and memorable because of Peggy. She enjoyed travelling and her trips to Ireland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Canada, Mexico, and multiple Caribbean countries provided her and Jim countless happy memories.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her five children: Michael Carroll, and his wife, Tina, of Uxbridge, MA; Brian Carroll and his wife, Karen, of Marshfield, MA; Sean Carroll and his wife, Kim, of North Attleboro, MA; Erin Kelly and her husband, Paul Kelly of North Attleboro, MA; and Shannon McKeon of North Attleboro, MA. Her beloved 17 grandchildren: Michael, Alyssa, Emily, Bridget, Molly, Katharine, and Clare Carroll; Patrick and Devin Pilkington; Shannon and Sarah Birch; Hannah, Isaiah, and Joshua Kelly; Aidan, Colleen, and Teagan McKeon; and 3 great grandchildren: Maeve, Kilian, and Finan Pilkington, will also carry her memory.

Peggy was preceded in death by her sisters: Mary Jane Seery of Needham, MA; and Barbara Shannon of North Attleboro, MA; and her brother, John I. Shannon of Marston Mills, MA. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her 6 nieces, 5 nephews, their families, and numerous cousins and friends.

The Carroll family is very appreciative for the exceptional care Peggy received over the years from the dedicated nurses, CNAs, and staff from Compassionate Care Hospice.

With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the use of facemasks, family and friends are cordially invited to honor Peggy by attending Visitation in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Also with strict adherence to Covid-19 precautions, family and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro, MA.

Jim I am so sorry to hear that Peg passed. I remember when she recognized me from Country Haven as one of my charge nurses. Caring for her was precious to me and I will forever remember her fondly. So so sorry for your family´s loss of a wonderful woman.
