Michael "Mike" Lyndon Richards, passed away on January 22, 2025, one day after his 55th birthday with his loving family by his side.
Born in Attleboro, MA on January 21, 1970, Michael resided in many places during his lifetime, including New York, Florida, Oregon, and California, but ultimately returned to his roots in Attleboro to attend graduate school. Michael was an accomplished individual both personally and professionally. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and son, a loyal Patriots fan, a skilled woodworker, a self-taught Spanish speaker, a creative dystopian fiction writer, he enjoyed watching nature and astronomy documentaries, doing complex wooden models/puzzles, camping and exploring New Hampshire.
At the heart of his life were his family and his work. Mike held a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY, and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting from Northeastern University, Boston MA. He served in the Navy ROTC for four years and an additional year with a discharged rank of Ensign. He was employed as a CPA and worked at Keller and Gannon, CA for engineering; KPMG Providence, RI - auditing; Textron Inc. Providence, RI - external reporting and accounting, and Sensata Technologies in Attleboro, MA for 15 years as the Director of External Reporting.
Mike is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jill M. (Anderson) Richards of Attleboro; his two daughters, Meredith L. Richards, Lauren J. Richards both of Attleboro; his mother, Joyce E. (Laberge) Richards of Attleboro; sister, Christine Richards Stewart of Lincoln RI; paternal Aunts, Wanda Douglass of Lansing KS and Sharron Molloy of Chico TX; paternal Uncle, Dan Richards of Midlothian VA; maternal Aunts, Joan Schlenker of Attleboro MA, Ann O'Brien of Chepachet RI; and his cousins, Randy Schlenker of North Dighton MA and Jennifer Bodziony of Chepachet RI.
Mike is predeceased by his father Terry L. Richards and his uncles, Charles Richards and James Richards.
The family would like to thank the oncology team at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston, and the hospice team at HopeHealth Hospice for the excellent care and support Mike received.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 647 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am at the same venue. The burial will follow at the North Purchase Cemetery, 824 N. Main St., Attleboro, MA.
