Paul Weir Obituary

Paul Arthur Weir, 84 of Mansfield, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the cherished husband of Shirley E. Weir, who passed 8 days later, and to whom he was married for over 65 years. Born Sep. 24th , 1937, he was the son of the late Charles Weir and the late Lexie (Carr) Ring. Paul attended Foxboro schools and was employed his entire career at The Foxboro Company, retiring as Foreman of the Maintenance Department in 1987. After retirement, he was employed part time at Blueview Nurseries in Norton for several years. Paul grew up on a working farm in Foxboro, and enjoyed the pleasure of growing his own vegetables throughout his adult life. He was a jack of all trades, self taught in the arts of carpentry, building, welding, pipe fitting, repairing, mechanics and masonry. The saying was, "If Paul can't fix it, then you don't need it." He loved woodworking, wood carving and restoring broken antique toys to their original splendor. Through his seasons of life, his passions were horseback riding, motorcycling, fishing, canoeing, camping, bird watching, hiking, singing, gardening, playing board games, storytelling and passing his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. His wife and family meant everything to him and were the twinkle of his eye. Paul is survived by his beloved children, Daniel Weir and his wife Patti of Corinth, VT; Karen Rebola and her husband Michael of Riverside, RI and Jeffrey Weir of Mansfield; as well as four grandchildren, James Bonin and his wife Angela of VA, Jason Weir of Attleboro, Luke Bonin and his wife Heather of Rehoboth and Brett Palmer of NY. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his five siblings; E. Jean Foley of VT, Madeline Wooley of KS, Walter Weir of VT, James Weir Sr. of Taunton and Albert Weir of Middleboro. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 11th at 5:00 pm at Church of Abundant Life, 135 New Meadow Road, Swansea MA. The service will be a joint memorial for Paul and his wife Shirley Weir, who passed 8 days after. A coalition will immediately follow
