I only came across this obituary today (12-28-22) and learned of Bob's passing. Back in the early 80s, I worked at WARA radio and its affiliated cable TV operation. As I was heavily involved in local sports, I came to know Bob just after his coaching tenure, but he was just as passionate sitting beside me in the broadcast booth as we called several North Attleboro games together. Those are wonderful memories over my 45-year broadcasting career. Bob was special, and had an impact on so many students' lives. To his family and friends, please know I'm thinking of you, and of him.

My dad was also a teacher in North Attleboro, and Mr. Guthrie was a good friend of his. Mr. Guthrie was guest speaker at our church league basketball sports awards in 1977 as a favor to my dad. The three of us and worked the gates at many NAHS football games over the years and I always enjoyed Mr. Guthrie's enthusiasm. Rest In Peace Mr. Guthrie. I know my dad is grateful to be reunited with his old friend.

Given the intensity of high school rivalries at a certain time in one's life, I was not sure how I'd be received as a regional sportswriter when I first started at The Sun Chronicle and had to cover one of my school's biggest rivals, North Attleboro. But one of the first people to welcome me was Bob Guthrie, and I'll always be appreciative of that.
He had already handed the football reins to Ray Beaupre by the time I came on the scene, but I covered many games during his tenure as baseball coach, joined him on his WARA radio show many times, and otherwise got to know him well in the years that followed. I benefitted greatly from his perspective on what it means to be part of North Attleboro's tradition, and I will cherish my memories of him.

Linda and I mourn the loss of a great friend and mentor Bob Guthrie. When I think of Bob I can't help but smile. We often met on Thanksgiving mornings at "THE" game and laughed and told old jokes until it hurt. Never forget the years together at Tri-County. Hope to meet again Guth. Love you buddy. RIP
