William J. Walsh

1944 - 2022

WALSH – William J., 78, lifelong resident of Attleboro, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA. He was the devoted and loving husband of Janice (Volpe) Walsh of Attleboro, MA.

Born on April 11, 1944 in Attleboro, MA he was a son of the late John G. Walsh Sr. and Kathleen (Noone) Walsh.

Bill was a graduate of Coyle High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant.

He was the owner and operator of W. Walsh Company, a specialized utility contracting organization located in Attleboro, MA. Bill was a longtime member of the Utility Contractors Association of New England and the American Water Works Association.

An avid fan of golf, hockey and football, Bill was most enthusiastic watching his grandchildren play at their sporting events. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and was an admirer of antique equipment. Bill was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro, MA.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his three sons, Christopher Walsh and his wife Meredith of Attleboro, Stephen Walsh and his wife Michelle of Attleboro and David Walsh and his wife Amy of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Nicholas Erban of Cumberland, RI, Abigail Walsh of Attleboro, Addison Walsh of Attleboro, Shane Walsh of Attleboro, Jillian Walsh of Attleboro, Lawrence Roberge IV of Mansfield, Bodie Walsh of Mansfield, and Jack Walsh of Mansfield; also, and many cousins, nieces, nephews both here in the U.S. and Ireland.

In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his siblings, John G. Walsh II, Mary Johannis, Ellen Theresa Wade and Patricia Ann O'Neil.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 3 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December, 9, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, 825 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
