Gaye Lanier This is Betsy with my husband Lewis

August 16, 2025

Betsy was our little sister. We called her Bid or Biddy. I was a good bit older than she, so when she was chasing our Billy goats and ducks in our beck yard, I was starting to be interested in boys. Soon there was college and before long everyone has gone their separate ways. However, our North Star was our beloved mother, so we reunited often back home and would be together again. As we grew into adults we shared more interests and age no longer mattered. Betsy literally hated cold weather ( all 4 of us siblings have low thyroid-I guess a genetic trait.) So she decided to look for a warmer place to live after Harrison and mcCall moved on to college or other ventures. Betsy doesn´t just talk about what she plans to do, she does her research and ` boom´ she makes a move but only after lots of counseling with the Good Master. So she was led to Naples Florida where she spent the rest of her life in the most beautiful place I have ever seen. She lived alone saying to me that God placed her there alone so she could devote herself fully to Knowing Christ, Truly, my sister had more faith in Christ than anyone I have ever known. Oftentimes when I called her she would be on zoom call praying for someone across the country. If I called with a problem, she would hit the floor to seek the face of God, as she prayed . When I was concerned/ worried about events of the day or personal problems , Betsy would say to me" Gaye, my God has got this- I´m sure not worried about it." And she wasn´t. I´m a devoted follower of Christ. But I have never reached the point that she did. I sure wish I had. I´m telling others this amazing faith about Betsy because I know she would want me to. I often talk about my little sister´s iconic faith to my friends etc, but not in a forum like this. But it would make Betsy happy. Of course , Bid was imperfect, but she had a spirit of goodness deep within her soul. Betsy was and could look beautiful, but if caught at her worst ,it did not matter. I remember on many occasions her running to answer a knock at our door. She was haggard and worn, but her sole emphasis was to make the caller welcome. When love and joy shine through as they always did with Betsy , nothing else really matters. She is sorely missed.
