My memory of Jacob, well, he was the very first male child to be born after our mother, Lillie Bell Dukes Newsome, had three girls! Our daddy, Alfonso, was really proud to finally have a son he could love. Jacob loved to fish and hunt, and always there to help his 3 younger brothers, Allen Willie, and Ronnie Newsome. At an early age he joined the U S Army and later sent to Korea, where he served with honor. He and Dixie Murray Newsome were the parents of four beautiful children. Timothy, Lanette, Kenneth, and Angela Newsome. The family spent most of their growing up years in the town of Branchville, SC, the very first railroad Junction in the world. They all loved and were devoted to each other.

My brother, Jake, boy, could he run, he had 3 older sisters, Colleen, Zena, and Janet Newsome, and when mischievious, would iritate them as little brothers sometimes will do. There was no use in chasing him down, as he flew with the wind. But, we all loved our little brother very much, and now that he is gone to heaven, he is missed so much my his family and his freinds, and one friend in particular, C A "Cary" Nettles, his lifelong friend and playmate. They always kept in touch as Cary would come down during the RR Daze Festival, and he would always ride out first thing and look up his dear friend. Now his dear friend is gone, but childhood memories of play are held dear to his heart. He is gone but never forgotten. By his big sister: Colleen Newsome Jolly
