Dale Jarman Obituary

Dale "Buzz" Levern Jarman
Jerseyville - Dale Levern "Buzz" Jarman, 90, passed away at 6:40 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2025 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin. He was born on July 20, 1934 in Macoupin County, IL, one of three children born to the late Charles Dale and Imogene (Klaus) Jarman. He grew up on the family farm between Carlinville and Nilwood, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for the outdoors. A proud graduate of the Carlinville High School Class of 1952, Buzz carried the values of his rural upbringing throughout his life. On January 30, 1955, he enlisted with the United States Navy, serving his country with honor until his discharge on January 10, 1957. During his service, he married the love of his life, Anna McCaherty, on February 12, 1955, at a U.S. Navy Chapel in Washington, D.C. Together, they shared a devoted and loving marriage, filled with cherished memories, four children, and the immeasurable joys of their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that followed. Buzz worked for 38 years at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, dedicating himself to his career as a machinist before retiring. Outside of work, he was happiest in his garden or yard, tinkering in his garage, or enjoying the outdoors while hunting and fishing – moments he shared with his children. Surviving are his beloved wife, Anna Jarman of Jerseyville; four children, Michael (Penny) Jarman of Rosedale, Rebecca Jarman of Jerseyville, Ruth (David) Dahl of Shawnee, KS and Regina Jarman of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Doris Prather of Virginia, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche McCullough and two grandsons, Richard "Rich" and Robert "Rob" Clarke. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hollybrook in Jerseyville, where Buzz and Anna have resided for the past two years; as well as the compassionate caregivers at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center and BJC Hospice, for their unwavering support and care.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Jerseyville American Legion Post #492, where he was a proud and longtime member. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memories may be shared with the family by visiting www.crawfordfunerals.com.
