Donald Schulte Obituary

Donald "Don" Robert Schulte, Jr.
Jerseyville - Donald "Don" Robert Schulte, Jr., passed away at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025. He was born in East St. Louis, IL on February 27, 1941, to the late Donald and Wilma Louis (Cemstock) Schulte, Sr. He attended Jersey Community High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1959. Don was a proud veteran serving in the United States Air Force. After returning home, he then went on to work for Alton/St Louis Pepsi for over 37 years. Don was an avid sports fan, known especially for his lifelong love of the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching football, no matter who was playing, simply appreciating the game itself.
An avid bowler, Don spent many years at the lanes, where he made lasting friendships. Beyond sports, he loved to travel, with Las Vegas holding a special place in his heart. Some of his favorite memories were made on trips with Rita, his beloved companion, exploring new places and enjoying life together. Don will be remembered for his friendly nature, quick wit, and his love for a good game and great company. He is survived by his companion, Rita Loellke of Jerseyville; four children and their spouses, Robert (Terri) Schulte of Cottage Hills, Brian (Melissa) Schulte of Alton, Andrew (Julie) Schulte of Godfrey, and Desiree Schulte of Cottage Hills; siblings, Debbie Hotz of Jerseyville, Celine PanKratius of Sacramento, CA., Susan (Tuck) Bradfisch of Grafton, Faith Thorne of California, Billy Phillips of Washington State, and Mark Phillips of Oregon; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Donald and Dorothy Schulte; his mother, Wilma Phillips; two brothers, Jerry and Scott Schulte; and a sister, Peggy Wolf. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Rev. Sonny Renken officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
