Dorothy Roam Obituary
Wood River - Dorothy Ann Roam, 91, passed away peacefully at 9:31 am, Sunday, June 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her son and daughter.
Born September 22, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of Anthony "Tony" and Anna (Zagar) Avramovich.
Dorothy loved everyone. She never met a stranger, always wanting to be compassionate and helpful to those that touched her life.
She met the love of her life, Roy D. Roam, and the two were married on May 10, 1952 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto. He died May 10, 1998.
Together, they had two children, Roy David Roam, Jr. and Nancy Roam both of Wood River; two cherished granddaughters, Ashley Roam and her partner, Glenn Schilling of Bethalto, Kylie Rice and her husband, Steve Rice of Granite City; great grandchildren, Trent Sanders of Cottage Hills, Isla and Oliver Schilling of Bethalto, Keaton, Daxton and Cambria Rice of Granite City; and a fur grand-baby, "Lulu", whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Barbara Campbell; and two brothers, Joe and Tom Avramovich.
A special "Thank You" is extended to OSF Hospice Staff, her nurses, Maria and Chandra, and Steve and Lynn Adcock of Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Thursday, June 6 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where funeral service will be conducted at 10 am, Friday. Fr. Tom Liebler will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Riverbend Humane Society, 23402 Crystal Lake Rd, Jerseyville, IL 62052 in lieu of flowers.
