JACQUELINE LEE ST. PETERS
ALTON — Jacqueline Lee (Jackie) St. Peters, 57, beloved wife, mother and sister, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital.
She was born Sept. 22, 1960, the daughter of Stanley and Marjorie Baldwin Kocur in Hammond, Indiana, and youngest of five children. She grew up in the suburban Chicago area and graduated from Bishop Noll Institute, before moving to Alton in 1978 to live with her sister.
After graduating from the International School of Travel in Chicago, she became a travel agent working at various locations in Alton and St. Louis. While living in Alton she met and fell in love with Doug St. Peters, whom she married on Oct. 24, 1982. Together Jackie and Doug had three beautiful daughters.
After her daughters were born, Jackie happily left her career to devote herself to her girls' upbringing and education, and to support her husband Doug in his role as owner of St. Peters Hardware, but she always loved the world of travel and remained the "family travel agent." She and Doug were immensely proud of their girls and their academic achievements. Later in life she also became a devoted caregiver to her parents, who retired to the Alton area.
Jackie will always be remembered for her generous heart, her sense of fun, her outgoing personality and her love of extended family, faith and friends. She was a strong Catholic and an active parishioner, first at St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey, and then later at St. Mary Church in Alton. Jackie was fond of so many things: animals, snow, Christmas decorations, Cardinal baseball, Michigan, the number seven, Notre Dame, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. But her family always came first for her, and included in her family were her much loved dogs.
Jackie spent many happy times with her family at beautiful Walloon Lake, MI, where she had vacationed since she was a young child. This year the travel highlight of her summer was a family cruise and trip to Disneyland she made with Doug and their three girls.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband Doug of Godfrey and daughters Laura of Godfrey, Courtney of Washington, DC and Megan of Bloomingdale, IL; her sister Jan Drew of North Easton, MA and sister and brother-in-law Lauren and Jim Macintyre of Walloon Lake, MI; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Wiona Jeffrey of Godfrey, Michael Kelly of Valparaiso, IN, Don and Gerry St. Peters of Indianapolis, IN, Darlene Watts of Alton, Dale and Nancy St. Peters of Alton, Denise St. Peters of Godfrey and Danelle St. Peters of Alton; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins to whom she was also very close.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Karyn Kelly, brother Rick Kocur, brother-in-law Dr. Frank Drew and brother-in-law Rick Watts.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 2 from to 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, beginning with a prayer service at 4 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, with the Reverend Steve Janoski presiding, with interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri, 13523 Barrett Parkway Dr., Baldwin, MO 63021 or the Alton Area Animal Aid Association, 4530 N Alby St., Godfrey.

I will always remember the love and devotion that Jackie shared with our family during Msgr. Virgil Mank's illness and death. Virgil will certainly have a great friend with him as they share heaven's reward.
