James Weinman Obituary

James "Jim" Weinman
James "Jim" R. Weinman, 87, died at 9:00 pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 25, 1937 in Alton, IL, the son of Frederick and Evelyn (Brecht) Weinman. Jim retired as a welder from West Star Aviation, Bethalto airport. He was a US Air Force Veteran. Jim accepted the Lord many years ago and is now comfortably resting in the arms of our Savior. He loved working with his hands being an extremely creative welder and builder, shown by his replica of the Arch he created which resides at LCCC. He also built the home he and Margie raised their children in. Jim loved raising a large garden and generously shared his bounty with neighbors, friends, and those less fortunate. He enjoyed eating Margie's meals and after every meal he would say, "That's the best meal I ever had!" Jim had several stray animals that found a comfortable life in his home with he and his family including his beloved cat, Maggie. Jim was proud to be a veteran and loved going to Branson to watch the Veterans Parade. He shook many hands and always said "thank you for your service" to any veteran he encountered. Jim loved life and will live on in everything he created. Surviving is his wife Margie L. Reeder, whom he married on April 1, 1961 in Brighton, IL, a son, Mark Weinman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cindi Kaye Weinman, a brother, Alvin Weinman and his wife, Marianne Weinman, two sisters, Martha Grizzle and Marilyn Rose, brother in law, Donald Reeder, niece, Joan (Reeder) Walston and three nephews, Rick Reeder, Terry Weinman and Todd Golike. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 24th, 2025 at the Gent Funeral Home, Alton, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 25th, 2025. Burial will be at Ingersol Cemetery, with full military rites. Reverend Tom Olney will officiate. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or BJC Hospice. What a great guy Jim was and such a joy to work with. He brought me some of those wonderful sweet potatoes and we had some great sweet potatoes casserole so many years because of his generosity with his garden items. What a true privilege to work with Jim at West Star, he was a star all by himself!!!
