JEREMY O'GARA
BETHALTO — Jeremy J. O'Gara Jr., 20, of Bethalto, Illinois passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 14, 1996, in Maryville, Illinois, a son of Melissa (Theis) Gidcumb and the late Jeremy J. O'Gara Sr.
He was self-employed and very proud of his lawn service and took pride in the service he gave to his customers. He had also attended SWIC with the culinary program and loved cooking, grilling and treating others to his food. He graduated from Roxana High School Class of 2014. Throughout his high school years, he was an avid wrestler, attaining many championships, awards and trophies. He was a self-taught and talented drummer and had played at Christ Gospel Church for many years. He enjoyed his many years as a musician and was playing with his band, Article III. He traveled many miles throughout his life to attend festivals, concerts and many other events. Jeremy was outgoing, adventurous, determined, and he experienced more life in his 20 years on earth than most. He was a friend to all and would always leave you with a smile and a laugh. He is leaving an impact on the many lives he has touched.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Melissa and Heywood Gidcumb of South Roxana; a brother, Justis Theis of South Roxana; a sister, Skylynn Valle of South Roxana; two stepsisters, Brandi Gidcumb of South Roxana and Ashley Gidcumb of Ohio; grandparents, Lynette and Ray Vaughn of Mitchell, Kimberly and Brian Thomas of East Alton, Mark Theis Sr. of Wood River and Hugh and Barb O'Gara of Pocahontas; great-grandparents, Hans Seemiller of Granite City, Charles and Lenora Vaughn of Granite City and Vallie Basore of Crawfordville, Florida; stepgrandparents, Evelyn and Ollie Goodrum of Hartville, Missouri; loving girlfriend of five years, Maria Lasbury of East Alton; his cherished dachshund, Marley; many aunts; uncles; cousins; other extended family and many friends.
In addition to his beloved father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Mark Theis Jr., and several grandparents and great-grandparents.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Bethalto Church of God, 800 East Bethalto Blvd., in Bethalto, 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016. Reverend Shea Hughes is officiating. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials may be made to the family and may be accepted at the funeral home.
In honor of Jeremy's life, the family requests all to wear casual apparel or your favorite tie-dye or concert shirt to his services.
